25-26 September | International Conference in Warsaw: 40 Years of Cooperation – Building Solidarity in the Legal Profession in Europe and Beyond
The European Association of Lawyers (AEA-EAL), in cooperation with the National Bar Council of Attorneys-at-Law (KIRP), is pleased to invite members of the legal profession, representatives of bar associations and legal organisations from across Europe and beyond to an International Conference in Warsaw on 25–26 September 2026, marking two important anniversaries: the 40th anniversary of AEA-EAL and the 30th anniversary of KIRP’s membership in the Association.
We are honoured that the Council of Europe will join the Conference as a strategic partner.
A programme focused on the future of the legal profession
The Conference will provide an opportunity to celebrate four decades of cooperation within AEA-EAL, reflect on the achievements and challenges of the legal profession, and strengthen international solidarity and cooperation among lawyers and bar associations. Particular attention will be given to the AEA-EAL Twinning Programme, a flagship initiative by the European Association of Lawyers AEA-EAL designed to connect legal professionals from Eastern and Western Europe
The programme will focus on two key thematic areas:
The Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer
European standards and national challenges
This session will focus on the Council of Europe’s new Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer, its key standards and principles, and its role in strengthening the protection and independence of lawyers, including challenges related to its implementation at national level.
Environmental Law through the Lens of Human Rights
The second thematic session will explore the growing relationship between environmental protection and human rights, with particular attention to access to justice, the role of lawyers and bar associations, and the potential of strategic litigation in addressing environmental challenges.
The Conference will bring together distinguished speakers, lawyers and representatives of bar associations from different European countries and beyond, providing a platform for professional exchange, discussion and cooperation.

Conference registration fee: EUR 65 per participant.
Participants wishing to attend the Gala Dinner on 25 September may register for the dinner separately. The participation fee for the Gala Dinner is EUR 120.

Programme and Practical Information
The Conference will take place on Friday, 25 September 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00, followed by the Gala Dinner in the evening.
On Saturday, 26 September 2026, participants will have the opportunity to join an optional cultural programme in Warsaw, including visits to the Royal Castle and the Museum of Modern Art.
Further practical information concerning the programme, venue, accommodation, participation fees and the social programme will be provided to registered participants.
